Thriving in PK3 (3 Years)

Confidence, Curiosity, and Conversations Begin

Between ages two and three, your child transforms from a curious toddler into a confident, capable little learner. They’re developing opinions (“I do it!”), building friendships, and soaking up new vocabulary by the minute. At this stage, we nurture that growth with patient guidance, purposeful play, and a lot of love.

Areas of Development We Support

Physical Development

Balance and coordination are getting sharper, and your child is now more in control of their body. They’re running, climbing, jumping—and eager to try new things.

  • How We Support It:
  • Play structures, dancing, and group games enhance gross motor skills
  • Self-care tasks (washing hands, putting on shoes) boost independence
  • Fine motor activities like lacing, building, and drawing strengthen hand control
Cognitive Development

Your child is a natural problem solver, learning through experimentation, repetition, and pretend play.

  • How We Support It:
  • Simple science experiments and sensory exploration spark questions
  • Sorting, puzzles, and sequencing build memory and logic
  • Dramatic play supports symbolic thinking and creativity
Language Development

They’re talking more—and asking a lot of questions. You may hear full sentences, storytelling, and the first signs of humor or negotiation.

  • How We Support It:
  • Teachers model rich, expressive language throughout the day
  • Group story times, songs, and conversations build vocabulary
  • Visual supports and books help children express big ideas clearly
Social & Emotional Development

Your child is learning how to be a friend, navigate conflict, and express feelings more intentionally.

  • How We Support It:
  • Role-playing and group play teach empathy and cooperation
  • Teachers coach children through sharing, problem-solving, and calming techniques
  • We validate emotions while teaching appropriate ways to express them
Independence
& Self-Care

By this age, children are ready to take more ownership of their day. We create meaningful opportunities for them to practice and grow.

  • Encouraging Independence:
  • Children make choices about play, learning, and transitions throughout the day
  • They’re guided to solve simple problems on their own before asking for help
  • Teachers celebrate persistence, effort, and autonomy
  • Practicing Self-Care:
  • Children practice dressing, toileting, and handwashing with increasing independence
  • Potty training is fully supported with patient, personalized care
  • Family-style meals allow children to serve themselves and learn polite habits

Health & Safety

By age three, your child is becoming more independent and aware of their environment. They are learning to make safe choices and understand the consequences of their actions. We continue to reinforce safety rules, such as staying in designated play areas and using toys safely.

Hygiene practices are solidified, with children learning to wash their hands independently and follow basic health guidelines like covering their mouth when they cough or sneeze. We also focus on the importance of healthy habits, including balanced meals, active play, and proper rest, as they begin to develop routines that support their growing bodies.

Mother

Pacesetter Academy is arguably the best Preschool in the Miramar/Pembroke Pines area. My child has been attending this school for about a year and a half and his knowledge base has increased tremendously. I also appreciate them remaining open during this pandemic, allowing me to continue to work and my child to continue in his learning growth.
